Weight Loss - Improve your memory
|
Memory is the ability for the brain to store, retain and recall
information. The brain stores information by external information
causing neurons to be fired (which are integrated into your central
nervous system). The neurons create paths in the brain by which
information is stored and can at a later date be retrieved. The
more you use a specific neuron path, the more efficient you become
at using them.
Improve your memory
As we have learned, the key to improving your memory is to encourage the ability
for the brain to create and access neuron paths. You can do this
by ensuring:
- Exercise your brain
The more you stimulate the brain and the memory,
the easier it becomes for your brain to create and access
neuron path ways. This is very similar to developing a specific
muscle group in your body. The more you train that muscle
group, the stronger you become when using that muscle group.
You can stimulate your brain to create neuron pathways through
reading, cross words, sudoko, puzzles etc.
- Physical exercise
The latest research into improving memory has shown that regular moderate cardio exercise helps to the blood circulation as well as enabling your brain to regenerate.
- Diet
The memory can improve by ensuring you "feed" your
brain. To ensure brain functions properly it needs plenty
of water and Omega 3. So ensure you drink 2 liter of water
a day and eat foods rich in Omega 3, such as trout, mackerel,
avocado, nuts, seeds and extra virgin oil. Ensure you stay
away from alcohol and drugs.
- Sleep
You should aim to get eight hours of sleep in order
for the brain to function properly. Also, according to the
New Scientist, a day time snooze of up to an hour will also
help to improve your memory.
- Avoid knocks and blows to your brain
Sever knocks and blows to the brain will ultimately
kill the brain cells, which will slow the ability for the
brain to create new neuron paths. This means it becomes harder
for the brain to learn and memories things. Also, the brain
swelling could also damage the neuron paths created by the
brain which means you loose the ability to recall information
stored using that path way!
Age also plays a small part in decline of memory that occurs. You can limit
the extent by exercising the above points. Think about it, if
the brain's function was seriously impaired by age, then all the
college professors would be in their 20s and retired by the time
they get to 40!!!

 Children & Obesity

Obesity in civilized countries is reaching epidemic proportions. What
is worrying is that the children too are now more obese than ever before
in the history of man kind!
Child Obesity and Weight Loss
 Calories and Weight Loss
Weight loss depends on the amount of calorie intake. Calories are used by the body to perform its day-to-day functions. However, when the calories taken in is greater than the energy burnt, then the excess calories are stored as fat. The most common reasons for excessive consumption of calories are:
- Psychological
- Emotional
- Lack of knowledge
- Habit

 Weight loss plans
There are a number of VERY dangerous diet plans used to target weight loss. A dangerous, or misleading, diet is one which provides "rapid" result. Remember, in order for a diet to be effective and safe, your body needs time to adjust to the change in your lifestyle. This is because rapid dieting will almost always have health consequences, and in fact research has also shown that as soon as your body adjusts to the diet, you will start to put on weight at even a higher rate than before.

For legal reasons we are unable to actually name dangerous or misleading
weight loss diets, however, the following is a list which should help
you identify these diets for yourself.
- Any diet that cuts out any essential food groups (Specially carbohydrates!)
- Any diet that promises or guarantees fast result
- Any diet that involves you drinking only liquid food.
- Any diet that involves you buying processed and ready made "food
substitutes".
