Weight Loss - Detox diet
A Detox diet is essential in the prevention of disease,
such as cancer and heart disease. However, it must not be used for the purposes of weight loss. Modern lifestyle and eating
habits exposes our bodies to higher levels of toxins than ever
before. This includes excess intake of sugar, fat, chemicals,
alcohol and heavy metals. These high level of toxicity overwhelms
our bodies, causing serious health problems. A detox diet is designed
to flush out these toxins and giving your body an opportunity
to recover from constant abuse.
Detox diet, the right way:
The detox diet can be very beneficial if you follow a healthy diet. Detoxing will involve adopting a Weight Loss Lifestyle which includes more than changing your eating habits for weight loss. If you would like to detox then:
- Eat organic
Research by University of Ghent has shown that the average diet exposes us to 54 different chemicals a day. Its therefore important to eat organic foods to ensure we reduce the amount of toxins in our food.
- Give up alcohol, smoking, fizzy drinks, chocolate and sweets, tea and coffee.
- Cut down your red meat.
- Eat plenty of fresh vegetables with lunch and dinner.
- Carry a 2 liter bottle of water with you and drink slowly through out the day.
- Don't eat animal fats, or saturated fats.
- Eat oily fish a maximum of 4 times a week.
Oily fish tend to store heavy metals in their fat. Wild salmon, sardines, farmed trout are among the safer fish to eat. Fish such as tuna, shark, marlin and swordfish tend to have a higher amount of heavy metal such as mercury.
- Eat fresh food
Fresh foods have less toxins. Ensure that you do
not store fresh food in the fridge for days on end as it will
dramatically reduce its nutrients.
- Buy food from inside of a shop!
Food sold or displayed by the road side will also contain higher contamination of heavy metals from the car exhaust fumes.
- Simplify your beauty program
An average woman exposes her body to 175 chemicals a day during her beauty regime. Some of these chemicals are thought to even cause breast cancer!
- Use aluminum free deodorant
Don't use deodorant after shaving as it increases
the chances of the chemicals entering your blood.
- Be careful dry cleaning
The main solvent used in dry-cleaning (called Perchloroethylene) has been named as a potential carcinogen. Try choosing a perc-free dry cleaner.
- Leaves shoes outside
Research has shown that the people who wear their shoes indoor tend to have a higher level of lead in their carpet.
- Get boiler and heaters serviced
This reduces the amount of CO2 and Carbon Monoxide.
- Switch to natural cleaners
Replace bleach, air fresheners and polish with beeswax,
baking soda, salt, white vinegar and lemon juice. These products
can clean your whole house without introducing chemicals into
your body.
- Watch your cooking utensils
Try minimising the use of aluminum foils, pans etc
when cooking. Aluminum traces will leak into your food, which
has been linked to Alzheimer. Specially cooking high acidity
foods (such as tomatoes and fruits) as they will increase
the levels of aluminum leaked into the food. Do not use scratched
pans or those cleaned in bleach.

is worrying is that the children too are now more obese than ever before
in the history of man kind!
Child Obesity and Weight Loss
 Calories and Weight Loss
Weight loss depends on the amount of calorie intake. Calories are used by the body to perform its day-to-day functions. However, when the calories taken in is greater than the energy burnt, then the excess calories are stored as fat. The most common reasons for excessive consumption of calories are:
- Psychological
- Emotional
- Lack of knowledge
- Habit

 Weight loss plans
There are a number of VERY dangerous diet plans used to target weight loss. A dangerous, or misleading, diet is one which provides "rapid" result. Remember, in order for a diet to be effective and safe, your body needs time to adjust to the change in your lifestyle. This is because rapid dieting will almost always have health consequences, and in fact research has also shown that as soon as your body adjusts to the diet, you will start to put on weight at even a higher rate than before.

weight loss diets, however, the following is a list which should help
you identify these diets for yourself.
- Any diet that cuts out any essential food groups (Specially carbohydrates!)
- Any diet that promises or guarantees fast result
- Any diet that involves you drinking only liquid food.
- Any diet that involves you buying processed and ready made "food
substitutes".
