Glycaemic Index (GI) diet is based around foods with low GI value. By keeping to foods with low GI value people can regulate their blood sugar levels, which prevents the body's natural insulin response from storing fat unnecessarily and making you feel hungry. By sticking to low GI valued food, people can in effect drip feed the body with energy through out the day so the body would not feel a need to eat more to satisfy the hunger.

The easy principals for following the Glycaemic Index diet:

  • Always have wholegrain over white breads and pasta.
  • Have oat based cereal in the morning instead of a sugary one
  • Stay away from ready made meals. Cook your own meal using fresh ingredients.
  • Eat five to six small meals rather than three large ones. This means that your energy levels stays constant and you would be less tempted to reach for snacks. Also, this means your metabolic rate stays higher and so you reduce the chances of body storing fat.
